just seen this movie - loved it, although it is of course dependent on what you want from a Woodstock story. Ang Lee's latest focuses on the side story and captures the 'experience' of Woodstock rather than the music - lots of cliches, lots of colour, lots of peace & love, drugs & nakedness - a real feel good movie! click here for full cast & crew details and trailers... UK release date 13th November.
Trivia related to the film courtesey of Imdb
- No authentic Woodstock footage was inserted into the film. According to director Ang Lee all the crowd and concert footage was shot specifically for the film.
- According to The Washington Post, screenwriter and producer James Schamus told reporters at the Cannes Film Festival that the biggest challenge in casting extras for the film was to find people "who were not working out all the time, and who still had pubic hair."
Favourite Quote - Carol: "Everyone with their little perspective. Perspective shuts out the universe, it keeps the love out". |

Another FTTS fave, the Spinal Tap of rap! Check it out...
Rock roadie and failed musician, Le Donk (Considine) is a f@&k up. He’s lost his girlfriend (Olivia Colman) and his life has turned to s*@t. So Donk sets out to make rap prodigy Scor-zay-zee (playing himself) a star and turn his life around (with a little help from the Arctic Monkeys). Meadows' hilarious rockumentary follows the duo on a journey of a lifetime; an unpredictable, irrepressible ode to spontaneous filmmaking and to a burgeoning UK rap talent. At 14, Toronto school friends Steve 'Lips' Kudlow and Robb Reiner made a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, released one of the heaviest albums in metal history, Metal on Metal (1982), influencing a musical generation, including Metallica, Slayer, Gun's'n'Roses and Anthrax. But Anvil's career took a different path - straight to obscurity.
Director Sacha Gervasi has concocted a vivid and often hilarious account of Anvil's last-ditch quest for fame and fortune. At first you might think this a mockumentary, but it isn't. Gervasi joined the legendary heavy-metal band as a roadie for a tour of Canadian hockey arenas enabling us to see the reality of their day-to-day lives as they struggle to make ends meet, take a misguided European tour, and engage in antics on the road - which is not always lined with fans. The film received critical acclaim far and wide including Michael Moore who said it was one of the best documentary's he had ever seen. For more info click Anvil The Movie
