It has to be said we find it hard to get enthusiastic about health and safety despite having had some close shaves ourselves in the cause of rock and roll, but there has never been a time when it is more on people’s minds following the recent deaths of the crew building Madonna's stage at Stade Velodrome in Marseilles (July 09). It is worth pointing out that many problems arise due to standards not being consistent throughout the world and even when H&S rules do exist they are often disregarded for the sake of expediency. In any event we are in the process of updating this area of the site to include top tips, anecdotes and mandatory guidelines so keep an eye out for news, views and articles under the main heading in the menu bar. In the meantime below are some useful links that will help you on your way. A good source of reference is Chris Hannam's book Chris Hannam is a respected expert in the field, the book covers the health and safety regulations and their application regarding all aspects of staging live entertainment events. It is an invaluable manual for production managers and event organizers with a total of 49 concise chapters.... our wobbly office table has never been so stable!
