Useful iPhone apps,,,,
AddThis Social Bookmark Button

Developers are taking a more professional view when it comes to producing apps for the iPhone. Moving on from the “impress your mates in the pub by playing guitar on your phone” apps to more useful tools such as remotely controlling control surface from your phone. A few examples of some useful apps are below.

Proremote appProRemote

The World’s first professional touch sensitive control surface that fits in the palm of your hand providing users with 32 channels of remote control with real-time color metering and 40mm touch sensitive virtual faders. Up to 8 faders can be controlled simultaneously.

ProRemote runs on the iPhone and iPod Touch and uses your existing wireless network to control professional audio products such as Digidesign’s ProTools and Apple’s Logic Music production systems.

The full version includes a dedicated transport view that allows the user to do audio scrubbing/shuttling, set markers (memory locations) and control many advanced aspects of the transport as well as basic play, record, and return to zero. Also included is all the functionality of our other products: ProPads and Pro XY all conveniently included so you don't have to switch out of ProRemote to program MIDI sequences.

ProRemote costs $99.99 (USD) and is available in the iTunes AppStore.

Novation Automap

novation automapAutomap for iPhone / iPod touch lets you take instant remote control of your music making software.

Novation's Automap has already revolutionised the way we control music production software now. Automap is set to do the same with the iPhone and iPod touch.

The power behind Novation's award-winning SL MkII, SL Compact and Nocturn MIDI controllers is now available for your iPhone / iPod touch, providing an instant and intelligent, wireless, palm-sized MIDI controller. Now you can use iPhone / iPod touch to control all of your music making software.

Whenever you want to control music software and the mouse is out of reach, Automap for iPhone / iPod touch delivers. And the possibilities are endless, give your artist remote control of reverb levels; a hand-held cross-fader for laptop DJ'ing; controlling multi-effects whilst tracking guitar; switching drum kits whilst you're sat at your V-drums.

Studio Six Digital SPL meter

studio six digital spl meterSPL Meter is a professional-grade sound level meter, also known as a decibel or dB meter, for your iPhone or iPod touch.

Modeled after a traditional analog SPL meter, we have faithfully reproduced all the characteristics and qualities found in those meters, including the ballistics, ranges, filters, and decay rates.

Generator-  is a highly accurate and versatile audio signal generator. It generates sine waves, square waves, white noise, and pink noise. The white and pink noise can optionally be octave-band filtered. All waveforms are highly accurate and low-distortion, created with real-time 64-bit floating point math and ANSI / IEC type 1 filters.

Generator also incorporates a pseudo-balanced output mode, that inverts the output signal polarity to one channel. When used with our iAudioInterface, you will get a signal that can be used for plugging into a balanced input.

faber acoustical signal scopeFaber Acoustical Signal Scope turns your iPhone into a powerful real-time spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope. Easily measure audible frequencies in SignalScope’s Spectrum tab. Capture a balloon pop with single-shot triggering in the Waveform tab. “Touch” your data with highly interactive, multi-touch enabled analyzer displays.

Please note if you plan to use the new 3GS iPhones, the mic input low end is rolled off sharply below 200Hz. Perhaps Apple don’t want people to use this for live music recording!?

Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer, Planet Waves Rig Remote

This is yet to be released but check out a demo on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVy7D1G9lM8

And now all of these get a larger screen with the iPad. Pretty soon it will be for everything.
